In Every Visit
Each patient will be asked about their chief concern and other questions related to overall health and body function. The pulses will be felt at each wrist, and the tongue will be examined. The forearms and lower legs will then be palpated to assess the condition of the (acupuncture) channels. The information reported by the patient and obtained by the acupuncturist are assessed together to differentiate patterns of dysfunction present. Appropriate treatment is then determined based on the differentiated patterns.
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into or near the channels of the body in order to regulate the flow and distribution of qi and blood to the various tissues and organs. Because the channel network extends from the deepest organs and spaces out to the tips of the fingers and toes, acupuncture is able to prevent or modify the perception of pain, normalize physiological functions, and treat diseases and dysfunctions of the body and mind.
Chinese medicinal granular extracts of the highest quality and safety are kept in an on-site pharmacy. Custom formulas are generated on a case by case basis for patients according to their differentiated pattern. Formulas are then mixed onsite and ready immediately after the appointment or later the same day.
Tuina (pronounced "tway-nah") is a dynamic set of manual methods used primarily in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and discomfort. Methods include the warming and manipulation of soft tissue, breaking down of adhesions, and joint mobilization.
